Old Jeans = New Bag

While M.in.law was rummaging through her old clothes to look for materials and fabric for a patchwork, I saw a pair of old jeans amongst her pile. When she agreed to let me have it for my little projects, I went scissors-crazy. After I have sewn the legs together, I showed my husband the bag (without the straps yet) and he said "hey, it's my Levi's!" Too bad, it's now my jeans bag project, haha!

Cutting off the legs, to sew the bottom for the bag.
Sewing the straps from the leftover fabric of the leg piece. The handstitching detail was mainly because the fabric got too thick for my sewing machine.... and the zipper ... ... and voila! So conveniently positioned! Gotta love the pockets, so handy.

Hey Peggy, was just going through the blog when I read your comment about asking the shop keeper to teach you how to use the machine... I seriously thought you'd been sewing since you were a kid or something, you're just so awesome!

thanks Azreen :D
Gette was with me when I bought the sewing machine. She even helped me film the demonstration, in case I forgot how to insert the threads or bobbins ... :P

Nice one, Peggy. Somehow I stumbled across this.
Thanks for the idea, I got a hand sewn jean bag---half finished since three years ago!! (Didn't know what to do with handles) You have given me inspirations!!
